| # of Players: |
2 to 4 |
| Items Needed: |
Large solid table, dice, chairs, 2-4 cups (party cups preferred) depending on the player count and of course beer. |
| Directions: |
2 player game (heads up)
Setup: Fill both cups with water half way and place them on opposite sides of the table, in the center and a hands space away from the end edge of the table. Sit in your chair (best at a distance of arms reach away from the table).
How to throw: You throw the die seated, underhand, and it has to go above your head height to count as a fair throw.
How to score points: If you can make the die into the opponents cup, the thrower gets 2 points. If the thrower throws the die and it bounces off the table anywhere passed your cups, you must try to catch it with ONE hand. If you miss the catch, the thrower gets 1 point. You CANNOT trap the die, meaning you can't use your body to help catch it (it can bounce off your body but don't trap it against your body). Two hand catches or cupping hands is considered trapping as well. A trap counts as 1 point for the thrower (so just don't trap!). If the die touches the cup, no matter what, no points can be scored unless it goes in the cup. First person to 11 points wins the game and you must win by 2 points. Onto the last and best part..
Drinking: If the thrower makes a cup, the opponent drinks the rest of their beer and the thrower gets to go again. If you miss the table entirely on your throw (you suck!) take a drink. If you drop a catch or trap, take a drink. If the die stays on the table, social drink. If you do not do a fair throw (observe how to throw above), take a drink. Feel free to drink on the side as well.
4 person game (2 vs 2)
Same rules as above except the setup is different.
Setup: Fill the 4 cups with water half way as above. Place a cup in each corner, a hands space away from each edge.
Just remember, this is a team game. Each teamate has to take the drinking penalties. So if the thrower makes a cup, both opponent teamates have to finish their beers, etc.
After EACH throw, it switches to the other teams throw. Be sure to alternate turns with your teamate.
Final notes:
You may stand up to catch the die. For example, if you pop the die in the air receiving a throw, you can get up and catch it. Otherwise you shouldn't need to get up. You can hit the die with one hand and catch it with another, or it can bounce off your teamate and you can catch it with one hand and still count as a fair catch. It can even bounce off a wall, just as long as you can catch the die before it hits the ground with one hand and without trapping, it is a fair catch. However, if the die stops motion (lands in your chair, etc.) it is counted as a miss catch. The thrower gets 1 point.

This game is fairly complex, it takes a couple games to really get the hang of the concept. If you don't have a large solid table, you can always buy a piece of MDF (medium density fiberboard, about $25) and place it on top of your table or build your own table out of it. Plywood DOES NOT work. It is also a fun game to play in black lights.
